Welljourn is now a verified member of the Fair Trade Federation.
It's a small badge with a big meaning. It tells you that every product in our collection, every ornament, carved artwork, jewelry pieces, comes from suppliers who live and breathe the principles of fair trade. Not as a marketing line. As a way of doing business.
Nothing actually changes. Since starting this brand I've been committed to the principles of Fair Trade and only sourced from true Fair Trade suppliers. What is new is that this commitment is now officially recognized by an outside source, and means a deeper commitment to finding and supporting fair trade products as I expand sourcing.
What This Actually Means
Fair trade gets used loosely these days. So let's be specific.
To become verified by the Fair Trade Federation, an organization has to commit fully, to every product, every practice, every partnership. FTF calls this "360° fair trade." It means the well-being of the artisans and farmers behind a product isn't an afterthought. It's the starting point.
That commitment includes paying at or above a living wage — enough for an artisan to cover food, shelter, education, and healthcare for their family. It includes long-term, trusting partnerships instead of one-off transactions. It includes transparency, safe working conditions, and respect for cultural traditions and the environment they come from.
And it's not self-declared. It's verified: reviewed, checked, and renewed annually by an outside source. So when we say "fair trade," we're not asking you to take our word for it. We're pointing to a standard we've been held to.
